Nurhan Gokturk is an artist and urban designer, currently living and working in New Orleans. Originally from New York City, Nurhan is a partner at Planetary ONE, which is an ecological design group, located in Brooklyn, NY. Planetary One focuses on addressing current and future ecological concerns in cities.  He frequently travels  to NYC to collaborate on urban design projects including the most recent project, "Super Docking", which is currently on display at the Brooklyn Navy Yards. Nurhan's artistic body of work has grown out of his interests in architecture, urban design, digital media, drawing, and watercolor painting. Nurhan has been interviewed on National Public Radio program titled "Dog days of Summer", featured in Metropolis Magazine, and awarded Gambit's Top 40 under 40 in recognition of his work in urban design. Early in his career, Nurhan worked on the 10,000 square foot Renault Factory Headquarters master plan at Kohn, Pederson and Fox. As a senior designer at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, he worked on several noteworthy projects, including Logan International airport. In 1997, Nurhan coordinated the Habitat for Humanity Buckminster Fuller Design Science Exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey. He has traveled worldwide, creating drawings and paintings along the way, and he is widely recognized for these sketchbooks highlighting cities and urbanism. He received his Master's Degree from Harvard Design School and his Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute. Nurhan enjoys donating his time and artistic works to charitable organizations. Most notably, Nurhan was a contributing artist to the LASPCA "Paw's on Parade" Bead Dog auction this past September. Currently, Nurhan is working on a series of watercolors visualizing the city and work of the late composer John Cage.
