For me, drawing Borromini's San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane was not about the building. It was about shaping corners that shaped a corner of Rome, Italy.
I have a small book by Aldo Rossi, it is drawings of his dogs. It is both unpublished and signed, he gave it to me personally. In the drawings, a single dog can have up to 2 to 3 coats, a variety of colors and shifty proportions. I studied the book closely. Much later,
went to Modena and drew the cemetery building above. I was looking for latent space.
